Steven Zaïre for Kangol

Toronto

2024

This campaign celebrates the brand’s deep-rooted legacy within the African American community during the 1970s, a transformative decade marked by cultural expression, self-empowerment, and artistic revolution. At the heart of the campaign is a tribute to Kangol hats, an enduring fashion statement that became synonymous with the bold and unapologetic style of the Blaxploitation era.

Through dynamic storytelling initiatives, the campaign highlights the profound influence of Kangol hats in film, music, and street style. It showcases their significance as more than just accessories but as powerful symbols of identity, pride, and resistance. From the smooth-talking protagonists of Blaxploitation classics to the everyday trendsetters in Harlem, Los Angeles, and beyond, Kangol hats were a staple in defining the era’s aesthetic and attitude.
